Dailey & Vincent

2017—Dreamlined Entertainment Group. I am having a hard time with this album as I am not to fond of this duo.  We were first introduced to Dailey & Vincent in 2009 when we received their Gospel album Singing From The Heart.  We found these two very vocally talented, however in the years to come we received two more of their albums.  All of these albums contained covers of well known songs including an entire album of Statler Brothers’ songs.  At Strictly Country we appreciate and promote creativity; we do not advocate entertainers who only record covers.  Knowing only this side of Dailey & Vincent as regurgitaters of other’s music, we question each of their albums to the max.  In the liner notes of this album, they claim that they were co-writers of nearly each of the fifteen songs.  However, many of these songs sound very close to other previously recorded songs.  Case in point the opening cut “Gimme All The Love You Got,” and “Baton Rouge.”  Both of these songs sound so close to other previously released songs.  They also include two songs that were co-written by Bill Anderson with “Unsung Heroes” and “That Feel Good Music” but they also claim that Jamie Dailey was a co-writer on the song as well.  So here is the dilemma that I face—I have spent some time researching to whether or not each of these songs were previously recorded, however I could not find where or when.  Now I could spend hours, days and months researching...but, this duo could have changed the name of the song so that one could not find who originally recorded it.  Think of it this way—all a person has to do is take a previously recorded song and change the title, a few lyrics and perhaps some of the melody just a bit to claim it as their own.  Is this what we call talent now or is this deception at its best? There is one song, “He’s Been So Good To Me,” that they claim they co-wrote with Wilson Fairchild; this I can understand as they are good friends with the Statler Brothers.  Members of Wilson Fairchild include Wil Reid and Langdon Reid, sons of two members of the Statler Brothers. I will say this—Dailey and Vincent do have the vocal capability to perform songs and at times they are able to bring the song to life.  I just wish that they would stop regurgitating other entertainer’s songs.  They really just need to write their own songs or find a songwriter in which they can connect with.  There are two songs that are semi worthy of looking for.  They include “Beautiful Scars” and a nice instrumental called “Spring Hill.”  As for the rest, if you don’t mind buying into the misrepresentation then—it’s an alright album.  As for Strictly Country, we do not settle for mediocrity. We truly honor and celebrate authenticity.  $$-
